Portable Rohde & Schwarz FSH6 Handheld Spectrum Analyzer 100 Khz To 6.0 GHz
The Rohde & Schwarz FSH6 spectrum analyzer is a wide band, highly sensitive receiver operating on the super-heterodyne principle. It converts high frequencies (up to several tens of GHz) into measurable quantities by sweeping through pre-selected frequency ranges and displaying the results on a CRT screen. The display shows received signal strength (y-axis) against frequency (x-axis).
Applications
The FSH6 is ideal for various applications including site monitoring to verify transmitter frequency and signal strength accuracy, interference analysis to ensure frequency availability, and numerous other tests such as antenna isolation, co-channel interference, adjacent channel power, occupied bandwidth, intermodulation, microwave/satellite antenna alignment, and component characterization. It is also used on board the International Space Station (ISS) for distance-to-fault measurements on RF antenna cables.

Time-Domain Power Measurements
The FSH performs time-domain power measurements within TDMA timeslots. Predefined settings for GSM and EDGE standards simplify these measurements. Users can load up to five custom instrument setups via FSH View software.
Channel-Power Measurements
This function determines power in user-specified transmission channels. After preliminary settings, a single keystroke initiates spectrum measurement within the channel using small resolution bandwidth relative to channel bandwidth. The FSH integrates measured values to display total power, with predefined settings for 3GPP WCDMA, cdmaOne, and CDMA2000 1x standards.
Cable Measurements (Distance-to-Fault)
For rapid, accurate determination of fault distances in RF cables. Using the VSWR Bridge FSH-Z2, these measurements provide immediate overview of device under test status (return loss and distance). Marker-zoom function enables detailed fault analysis with up to 1024 pixel resolution. Requires FSH313/323/626 (with built-in tracking generator), option FSH-B1, and FSH-Z2.
Scalar Network Analysis
The FSH313/323/626 (with built-in tracking generator) determines transmission characteristics (attenuation or gain) of two-port devices like cables, filters, and amplifiers. Simple calibration compensates for measurement cable attenuation. With VSWR Bridge FSH-Z2, matching (return loss or VSWR) at input/output ports can also be determined.
